Position Summary
The Marketing Coordinator at our improv theater plays a pivotal role in promoting our performances, engaging with the community, and enhancing the theater's brand visibility. This individual will work closely with the Managing Director, Education Director, and Board to promote classes, festivals, shows, and initiatives at the theater.
Key Responsibilities

Email Marketing:

Develop and send weekly emails to promote upcoming shows, events, and classes

Work with staff to develop email content, including compelling copy, and visuals

Manage adding new people to the email list and develop strategies to grow the email list

Social Media:
-
Create, schedule, and publish captivating posts, stories, and updates on our social media accounts

Work with staff, show producers, and performers to share the content they create and help promote their shows and classes
-
Capture, curate, and create content at our shows and around the theater to tell BIG’s story and promote our brand, talent, and space
-
Engage followers, respond to comments, and actively participate in online conversations
Engaging with media

Entering our shows in all online event calendars
-
Reaching out to entertainment reporters to get us onto Weekly Events lists and into news articles or TV news segments

Creating press releases
-
Regular contact with local reporters (Sun, Banner, all local magazines, all local TV stations, all local radio stations)

Answer or delegate all media and other inquiries coming in to BIG
Advising BIG leaders on media and public appearances

Media training all leadership
-
Creating talking points
-
Possibly staffing leadership at events
-
Possibly making appearances on local TV and radio stations, as well as securing other players to appear or be quoted
Website Maintenance

Regularly update and maintain the theater's website with show information and other relevant content.
Marketing Campaigns
-
Collaborate with staff to brainstorm, plan, and execute creative marketing campaigns to drive ticket sales, class sign-ups, and community outreach.

Provide regular reports and insights to the marketing team, identifying areas for improvement and growth.
Collaboration and Coordination

Manage a team of volunteers interested in marketing to implement campaigns and outreach efforts.

Identify potential partnerships and collaborations with local businesses, community groups, and influencers to expand the theater's reach.

Ensure consistent branding across all marketing materials and platforms, maintaining the theater's unique identity.
Qualifications
-
1-2 years of experience in marketing, preferably with nonprofits or artistic organizations
-
Strong creative and written communication skills with an eye for visual design
-
Proficiency in social media platforms, especially Facebook and Instagram (via Meta Business Suite and natively), and TikTok
-
Proficiency in design, email marketing platforms, and content management systems, preferably MailChimp, Wix, and Canva
-
Strong aptitude for independent work and the ability to manage tasks and projects with minimal supervision
-
Detail-oriented with the ability to take initiative and prioritize tasks
-
Enthusiasm for theater, performing arts, and improv is a plus
-
Ability to work evenings and weekends as required for events and performances
