Service Description

In the first moments of a scene, improvisers are issuing a promise to the audience and themselves about the scene that's about to unfold. If you're an improviser who flames out in the middle of scenes, unsure of what to do next or where to take the scene -- if you find yourself throwing out new offers mid-scene, this workshop is for you. Everything you need to know about a scene is at the beginning; everything that follows is predicated by what's come before. Learn how to recognize everything the beginning of a scene has to offer so that you can mine the potential without having to restart a scene every twenty seconds in the hopes of finding something better, funnier, or newer. Day and Time: Saturday 8/1 - 2:00-4:00pm Cost: $50 Facilitators: Ralph Andracchio and Steve Kleinedeler Steve Kleinedler has been improvising on and off for the past 40 years and consistently since 2000. Steve has taught improv at ImprovBoston (2003-2011, 2019-2023); at Philly Improv Theater (2011-2018); and at workshops in Baltimore (BIF), Bethlehem, Boston, Chapel Hill (NCCAF), Chicago, Detroit (DIF), Providence (PIF), Philadelphia, Pittsburgh (PCF), San Juan (MATCH), Sarasota, and Wilmington (Tax Free), as well as performing at festivals in Austin, Toronto, and Washington DC. Steve currently coaches the Union Comedy (MA) Harold team People People and is one-half of the duo Sad Trombone with Ralph Andracchio. Ralph Andracchio is a Philly based artist and for the past 16 years has been performing, teaching, directing, and producing comedy in some form all over the US. With his time at Philly Improv Theater as Artistic Director, as a curriculum consultant at Liberty Improv Theater, or an instructor at Crossroads Comedy he has always strived to use improv as a conduit to tell more stories, explore more relationships, and challenge performers and audiences to think differently about themselves and each other. He is currently a member of the improv team (in space), co-host of the wildly popular and award-winning sex education/comedy show Porn Stash, and one half of the duo Sad Trombone with fellow homosexual Steve Kleinedler. Ralph is also a co host of the podcast Cookbook Obscura, and along with friends and fellow comedians Aubrie Williams and Shannon DeVido invites guests to make obscure recipes found in obscure cookbooks and talk about how bad it is for an hour.
