Service Description

In this high-energy workshop, you’ll learn to trust your first impulse and ride the wave of discovery, rather than invention. We’ll flip the script on scene starts: the second person becomes the true initiator, boldly naming the reality and inviting the first into a shared world of play. It’s all about confident choices, playful adaptation, and scenes that pop from the very first moment. Expect lots of scenes, real-time side coaching, and a ton of reps. You’ll leave with tools to stop overthinking, stay present, and co-create with immediacy, whether it’s a grounded slice-of-life scene or an epic fantasy fever dream Day and Time: Sunday 8/2- 11:00am-1:00pm Cost: $50 Facilitators: Michael Bird Michael Bird has been improvising for over 22 years, performing, directing, and teaching across the U.S. and internationally. He got his start in the Austin longform scene, directing the University of Texas improv team, and has since worked in Washington, DC and New York City, with advanced training in Chicago at iO, Second City, and The Annoyance. He is the creator of the solo show Cosmic Improv, a fully improvised performance built with the audience, which he performs weekly in Manhattan and has toured nationally and abroad. Bird’s approach emphasizes bold choices, deep listening, and fearless play.
