About The BIG Theater

The BIG Theater opened in October 2017 in Station North Arts & Entertainment District in the core of Baltimore City. The theater offers 3,000 square feet of space for the live comedy shows; classes and workshops for adults, kids and teens; and a free podcast studio.

​Located at 1727 N. Charles St, the theater is run by the nonprofit Baltimore Improv Group.

Why Baltimore Improv Group?

Baltimore Improv Group serves as one of the largest arts education venues in the Baltimore area outside of a university.

Learn in improvisational comedy classes for adults and kids and everyone in-between. 

Through the Young Audiences/Arts For Learning Maryland, kids learn about improv skills and see improv shows in the greater Baltimore area and throughout the state of Maryland.

Why the Name The BIG Theater?

With the new space, we call our performing arts center The BIG Theater. The name pays homage to Baltimore Improv Group's since we were established in 2004.

Bringing our history into the present day, we're building a hub for community engagement with affordable arts programming in Baltimore City. Join us in expanding this mission in the years to come to provide more fun things to do.

The new theater brings everything under one roof. We not only teach classes and improv comedy shows; we connect create comedy shows that also include special events, holidays, dance parties, burlesque, and other events that you suggest.

We’re most excited about making new friends in Station North Arts & Entertainment District. Discover the best ways to use our new space to connect high-quality comedy to the Baltimore area every day including weekdays, weekends and holidays.

Improv comedy took off like a rocket in the last few years. Baltimore Improv Group already serves as Maryland's place to see and perform the best local Maryland improv comedy.
