Nick Armstrong’s Sketch Intensive is a fast-paced, hands-on experience designed for performers and writers ready to turn great ideas into fully realized sketch comedy. Drawing from decades as a working actor, writer, producer and theater owner, Nick teaches the fundamentals of strong sketch structure and character-driven humor that actually lands with audiences. Participants learn how to generate ideas, heighten effectively, collaborate in a writers’ room environment and bring sketches to life with confidence and specificity. With a focus on emotional truth, ensemble and professional-level standards, this intensive goes beyond theory, offering practical tools you can immediately apply on stage or in your own productions. Supportive, challenging and rooted in real industry experience, Nick’s Sketch Intensive is built to help you create smarter comedy, take bigger risks and elevate your work to the next level. Nick’s Bio: Nick Armstrong is an actor, writer, producer and theater owner with over two decades of experience in comedy and the performing arts. He is the Co-Owner and Artistic Director of RISE Comedy in Denver, where he has helped build one of the region’s most respected comedy institutions. Originally trained in Los Angeles, Nick performed with renowned companies including The Groundlings and iO, and has appeared on television shows such as The Office, Parks and Recreation, Grey’s Anatomy, Brooklyn Nine- Nine and New Girl. His work spans stage and screen, with a career rooted in strong character work, collaboration and emotionally grounded comedy. Beyond performing, Nick is a passionate educator and the founder of Camp Improv Utopia, a worldwide recognized nonprofit that brings improvisers together for immersive training experiences focused on growth, connection and ensemble-driven comedy. He is also co-owner of Haus of Comedy in Sacramento and Crowdwork based out of Chicago. Nick is also a writer, consultant and has sold and produced scripts for major networks. Whether he’s directing, teaching, producing festivals or mentoring the next generation of comedians, Nick is driven by a simple belief: when you create spaces where people feel supported, challenged, and inspired, great comedy and community naturally follows.
