Show Preview for "Siete de Mayo" - Pickle Optional, Lekker, iMusical

Don't forget tonight's improv show "Siete de Mayo" at the Creative Alliance at 8.  This is such a top caliber improv show - I wanted to give a little preview:

iMusical:

These guys usually sell out in Baltimore.  They are so popular here because they are quite amazing.  Seriously - their improvised musical numbers are as good as scripted musical shows.  I have seen them get standing ovations in Baltimore twice - which is extremely rare for improv.  I can count the standing ovations I have seen for improv troupes.  Baltimore folks - do NOT miss this opportunity to see these folks in your back yard!  Members of BIG still sing "Ghost of the Ocean, Unicorn of the Sea" to each other - which was an improvised song (that iMusical cast doesn't even remember) from their first performance in Baltimore.  I'm not saying that we stalk them or anything, but I am contemplating throwing my underwear tonight.

Lekker:

This is BIG's newest troupe - and has become a bit of a phenomenon.  They are the very epitome of a "tight set" troupe.  Lots of laughs and high points - very little down time to catch your breath.  They are very smart improvisers - and always have a good time with each other.  Many improv troupes have one or two stars, and a very few have many heavy hitters all in the same place - but Lekker is one of them.

Pickle Optional:

These fuckers are crazy.  Yes, they are good.  Yes, they are 3 'fearless' type players.  I would not try to understand their set if I were you.  In there few performances (3) - they have: stolen water and poured it on themselves, sung theme songs for each other, climbed on top of 3 rickety stools to do a scene, made each other do a scene in Latin, done scenes perched on each other's shoulder, done handsprings, played from underneath the set, bent each other in half, made each other play a scene from between their boobs and did most of a scene using one word  - "America."
