Wow - this spring is super busy because of all the fantastic improv classes we're teaching! We just wrapped up an intro class last week. The group did a fantastic job during the seven-week course and their showcase was phenomenal. We were very proud of them and are happy to hear that many of them are planning to continue their improv learnin' by taking our Intermediate Class - which begins next Tuesday, March 23rd.
Need some prodding to take an improv class? Check out this feedback from some of our most recent intro students:
"Improv introduced me to the joy of getting loose with strangers. I highly recommend it. Improv class reminded me of those great preschool years when no one batted an eye if I danced in the waiting room at Jiffy Lube."
"Everyone who has any interaction with the public could benefit from an improv class. You learn to attune to other people’s weird physical and emotional messages, which is exceedingly helpful."
"Remember how you used to hate when the teacher said 'You’ll be working in groups?' Welcome to Improv, the only place on the planet where that’s actually great fun."
"It was a great class. (The teachers) gave us very specific techniques and building blocks to achieve Good Improv (yeah!), and most of all it was fun. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens in the Intermediate class!"
"I really enjoyed it!"
Now, time to get some class!! Our intermediate course starts next Tuesday, details here. The intermediate class will be taught by Bridget Cavaiola, a member of the Baltimore Improv Group troupe "Gus." Bridget is a great teacher - high energy, supportive and super fun.
Then we have a Directing Improv class that starts on March 29th and is taught by current BIG Artistic Director Prescott Gaylord. If you've ever wanted to coach your own improv team, Prescott is the guy to learn from! Prescott directed BIG troupe Gus and formed some of the most interesting and exciting improv collaborations BIG has done, including improv + modern dance, improv + burlesque, and improv +body-painting. He is an excellent director, has a ton of amazing ideas, and you will love him!
And then starting on April 8th is our advanced class. Details here. This is taught by Michael Harris, a long-time member of the BIG. Mike has directed BIG troupe Plan B and starred in many scripted plays around the region. He will lovingly mold you into an advanced improviser ready to destroy the stage with your improv skills.
So come on now, what are you waiting for?
